Attendee Guide

1  Check that your 'cookies' are enabled

Cookies are small amounts of text information stored by your browser that allow ExpoNZ to track who you are when you click between locations on the site. Your browser sends the information in the cookie (usually just a session id number) with each request. The server then matches that session id with any personalised information it controls such as the functions in the virtual expo.  ExpoNZ uses cookies in combination with SSL encryption, making it exceedingly difficult for an unauthorised user to forge your cookie, and greatly increases your security as you use our site.

Depending on the browser you're using try looking in the 'Edit' or 'Tools' menus first. Failing that, go to the 'Help' option in your browser and search for 'enable cookies'.

2 Check that you're using the latest version of Flash

Our system runs on a programme called Adobe Flash. Download latest version of Adobe Flash - it's free and only takes a couple of minutes.  or are not sure if it's the latest version, go to

3  Hit refresh if your screen freezes

If your broadband connection fades in and out, you may experience a frozen screen.  Simply hit the refresh arrow on your internet browser toolbar - it will clear your computer's memory cache and take you back to the registration screen.

4  Make sure you can hear

Check that your speakers are enabled and the volume turned up.

5  Go to full screen mode

For the best experience, go to full screen mode - F11 or choose Full Screen from the View menu. To exit full screen mode press Esc. Or move your mouse to the top right hand corner of your screen and click the 'Restore' icon (a double box).

6  Don't use back arrows to navigate

Navigate using the menus along the top and bottom of the screen, not your back arrows

7  Enable your camera and microphone

When you visit a booth, if you have a camera, a permissions window will pop-up asking you to allow its use - say allow.   This pop up is how you check your camera and microphone settings.  If you need to check right mouse click anywhere on the screen and it will come up.

8  No camera or microphone?

If you don't have a camera or microphone, you can still watch presentations and use the text chat options.

9  Check out all the places to go

  • Expo Foyer - choose from one of the clearly marked entry points for the various public spaces such as the Meeting Rooms, Exhibition Halls and Library
  • Exhibition Hall(s) - visit the range of exhibitor booths, video or text chat to exhibitors and download brochures and other media.
  • Conference Rooms - this is where all the event's presentations take place - you can ask questions during presentations via instant messaging.
  • Networking Centre - here you can engage in group-chat with other attendees or join discussion threads in the forums.
  • Resource Library - the library is the central repository where you can view past presentations and other media from the archives.
  • Media Room - includes a Media Desk with the latest event news stories.
